Approval has been granted by the Big Spring City Council.

A special meeting was held Thursday, January 12, 2012 by Big Spring City Council in order to consider approval of an incentive agreement between the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation and Boyce Galvanizing.

BSEDC recently held a special meeting where the board approved to move forward with an incentive agreement with Boyce Galvanizing in order to help them become operational in the Big Spring community. However, before the agreement could be implemented the city council had to give their approval and approval has to be received from the Small Business Administration (SBA), as well. The project will also be considered by the county commissioners at their next meeting.

“This is something that is needed out here. There is a huge market for it and that is part of the reason the company chose Big Spring as a location,” BSEDC Executive Director Terry Wegman said.

The project is estimated at $5 million and will bring in between 30 and 40 jobs and produce an approximate $1.5 million dollar payroll.

“We think this is going to be a good industry for Big Spring,” Wegman said. “This type business will help diversify our industry base and is not dependent on swings in the oil and gas business this should be a stable business for years to come.”
